EFT Tapping, short for Emotional Freedom Techniques, is a self-help method in which you tap lightly with your fingertips on a sequence of acupressure points on the face, upper body and hand while you name what is bothering you. Most people use it for stress, anxious thoughts, cravings, poor sleep or a memory that still stings. One round takes about two minutes, so it is easy to try at your desk, before bed or ahead of a difficult conversation.
This hub gathers the best places to learn and practise EFT in one spot. Our complete guide explains the method step by step. Below it you will find a hand-picked set of free videos from the people who shaped tapping, podcasts for the commute, the apps worth installing, the books most often recommended, and the training bodies and directories to use if you want a qualified practitioner or a recognised certificate.
If you are brand new, read the guide, then watch one short how-to video, such as Gary Craig's Basic Recipe or Nick Ortner's three-minute walkthrough, and copy along. Pick one small, specific issue, rate how intense it feels from 0 to 10, tap through a few rounds and rate it again. The free tapping chart from EFT International is handy to keep nearby until the points become second nature.
Once the basics feel familiar, the guided tap-along sessions for sleep, anxiety and pain are a good next step, and the podcasts let you hear how experienced practitioners phrase their setup statements. Many people find that a daily five-minute habit works better than occasional long sessions.
If you want to go deeper, or you are dealing with trauma, long-term pain or anything that feels too big to handle alone, use the directories to find a certified practitioner. EFT International (which absorbed AAMET), EFT Universe and ACEP each run their own training and accreditation, so the courses section explains who teaches what. Practitioners work in person and online, and many offer a short free introductory call.
Every link here was opened and checked by our editors before it was listed, and each card notes who made it, where it lives and whether it is free. We favour founders, researchers and established training bodies over anonymous channels, and we recheck links regularly. Nothing on this page is paid placement unless it is clearly labelled as sponsored.
Tapping is generally considered gentle and low-risk, but it is not a replacement for medical or psychological care. If an exercise brings up strong feelings, stop, breathe and come back to it later, ideally with a professional's support.

EFT has the strongest research base of any technique on Self Help Supermarket, with over 100 published studies including more than 40 randomised controlled trials, mostly on anxiety, stress, PTSD, phobias, cravings and pain. Researchers such as Dr Peta Stapleton and Dawson Church have published widely on it, and EFT International keeps a public list of research.
Studies vary in size and quality, so treat EFT as a useful self-help and complementary tool rather than a cure. The videos and podcasts from Peta Stapleton above are a clear, balanced introduction to what the science does and does not show.
Read our complete guide, then follow one short how-to video (Gary Craig's Basic Recipe or Nick Ortner's How to Tap) and keep the free EFT International tapping chart beside you. Tap on one small, specific issue and rate it from 0 to 10 before and after.
Most everyday stress, worries and cravings can be worked on alone. For trauma, long-standing pain or anything that feels overwhelming, work with a certified practitioner; the directories in this hub list accredited people, many of whom work online.
They are separate training and accreditation bodies. EFT International (formerly AAMET) is a UK-registered charity teaching classic EFT in Levels 1 to 3. EFT Universe teaches Clinical EFT, the research-focused version developed by Dawson Church. ACEP is a professional association for energy psychology that offers EFT skills training and certification.
The Tapping Solution app is free to download with a set of free sessions and an optional subscription for the full library. Check each app's store page for current pricing.
No. EFT grew out of Thought Field Therapy (TFT) in the 1990s. TFT uses specific tapping sequences for each problem, while EFT simplified this into one sequence that covers all the points. See our Thought Field Therapy guide to compare them.
