Stuart Lichtman is an executive, entrepreneur, trainer and coach best known as the creator of Cybernetic Transposition, a three-step method for getting the conscious and unconscious mind to agree on a goal, then clearing the hidden “blockers” that stop you reaching it. [1]
Who is Stuart Lichtman?
Lichtman describes himself as “an executive, an entrepreneur, a researcher, consultant, trainer and coach”. [1] His published biographies say he studied engineering, psychology and artificial intelligence at MIT at undergraduate and graduate level, went on to master’s work in applied psychology and doctoral work in organisation development and cross-cultural business, and has “directed or run” around 100 companies. [1] [2] He is president of Partners in Excellence, Inc. and Successful Ventures Publishing, Inc. [3] [4]
He created Arintel, an artificial-intelligence data analysis program, and the Shared-Vision Leadership System for organisations. [3] [5] In interviews he has said that Asperger’s syndrome helps him see to the heart of a problem. [4]
His central interest is what he calls the “unconscious/intuitive bases of success”: why capable, motivated people fail to reach goals they consciously want. [1] Cybernetic Transposition is his answer.
His method in brief
- Create a target the whole mind agrees on by writing a vivid “Metastory” built from the feeling of a real past success.
- Prioritise it so your unconscious mind keeps working on it every day.
- Find and clear blockers: the old protective habits that sabotage progress.

Our honest take
A thoughtful, structured method. Most success claims come from Lichtman and practitioners, not independent research.

The claims, examined
- People trained. His biographies say “over 50,000 people around the world”, including CEOs and heads of state; a 2023 podcast description says “more than 75,000”. [1] [4] These are his own figures, and we found no independent record.
- The “81% success rate”. Reviews often repeat that about 81% of trainees reached a “seemingly impossible” goal at the first attempt. [11] We found no published study, sample size or definition of success behind it.
- Education. The MIT, master’s and doctoral details come from his own biographies. [1] [4] We could not independently confirm the degrees awarded.
- Science. The ideas the method draws on (unconscious processing, habits, mental imagery) are mainstream; the method itself has no independent peer-reviewed trials that we could find.
